how does the branding process work?
Great question! Upon receipt of your payment, you will receive a welcome email from me that details your package, the process, and what I will need from you to get started. Design work will not begin until I have received your payment, a signed contract, and your discovery questionnaire. The email will also include details about our shared Pin board, which will help me get to know your style a little bit more. From there, we will get started based on the design package you have chosen. For packages that include design work, two rounds of revisions will be included for each major piece of your project with the exception of the website where one revision round is available. If your package includes logo design, your logo/brand concepts will be shared with you, and we will discuss the pros and cons and next steps to move forward. For packages including web, you will also be required to purchase your Squarespace subscription and your domain name (and email if you so choose). Details regarding how and when to take this step will be included in your welcome email. Once all pieces are complete, the files will be sent to you via Dropbox.
What file types will I receive?
All write ups, color code descriptions, and mood boards will be delivered in PDF versions, as well as initial branding concepts. Final logo files will be delivered in .png, .jpeg, and .eps (vector) formats in color, black, and white. Design files (Illustrator) are not included, but may be purchased for an additional fee.
What is your design style?
This is a super mega important one. My design style is clean and mature with a touch of elegance mixed in. I love muted tones, white space, and clean type. I tend to shy away from very bold bright colors, and sparkles and gold foil everything isn't really my thing. That being said, your brand should reflect your business' needs and your own personality! If you choose to work with me as your designer, it should be because you see your personality in my work and style in some way, and that we complement each other in a way that a great working relationship is formed. If you like added elements of gold, by all means we can include it in your branding - it will be done so in a classy way that exudes professionalism. If you're looking for a lime green logo with rainbow sparkles though, I may not be your girl. :)
How long does branding take?
This answer can vary as every project is different. In a perfect world, basic/concept packages would take one week, with Logo packages taking approximately four to five weeks, and packages including web design taking between 2-3 months. Of course, these times are estimates and vary based on client response time and cooperation, the number of revisions required, and current workload.
What about Print Collateral? Social Media?
We currently do not include print collateral in our packages directly because there are so many different types and options available. If print collateral is on your radar, let us know and we can quote your project separately! Same goes with Social Media - with so many different outlets, it's difficult to create one standard package. Let us know what you need, and we can build one for you!
Can my website include
We are happy to accommodate e-commerce sites for an additional fee (to be quoted based on the project). The quote will depend on your needs (e.g. product quantity, detail, categories, etc.) and will vary from site to site. Please inquire for more information!
Will you provide my site content and photos?
No! This is a requirement of you as the client. We will provide guidelines for how to set up your content and get us the information in the most helpful way, but the development and photography must be provided by you. We can source stock photography on your behalf if necessary for additional cost, but we recommend not moving forward with purchasing stock photos on your own until the designer can look at them and be sure that they will style well with the look of your site.
how does the payment process work?
Packages can be purchased through Etsy, or we can invoice you separately via email. We require payment in full for our basic concept package, and typically require full payment for our remaining packages as well. However, being a small business owner myself - I understand that when you're just starting out, budgets help! If need be, we can break the cost down into two easy payments - 50% due at contract signing to secure your spot in our design queue, and the remaining 50% due prior to delivery of all final design products. We apologize for any inconvenience, but all payments are non-refundable as they secure your spot in our design queue and cover design time.
